Notes

From it’s inception, this colorway put me in mind of natural agate, cut and polished. I knew I wanted the pattern to reflect the natural way that colors travel across a surface like that: stripes that change direction, that are sometimes wider, and sometimes narrow…

This pattern is ideal for those new to colorwork. Two handpainted yarns shade gradually across the work, while only one strand is worked at a time, through a deceptively easy stitch pattern that pulls simple stripes into steep turns. Sections of skinny stripes, wide stripes, and uneven stripes keep things interesting.

Using a Size 3 needle helps this project move along quickly, and the loose gauge results in a slinky, drapey scarf, with a silky soft hand provided by the 10% Cashmere in Avaze.

Pattern contains instructions for 10” wide Scarf, and 16” wide Stole.

Avaze Lace: silky soft and warm. 10% Cashmere makes it lovely next to the skin, 10% Nylon gives it added strength, and 80% Superwash Merino means it’s warm, springy, and washable, so it doesn’t have to be saved for special occasions only.
