I do like this sweater. The neckline is so flattering to many body types, especially those with broad shoulders and ample busts like mine. I’m very glad that I made the mods to the neckline…perfection! I’m loving the orange which is more like the second picture but richer and darker.
The sweater has now been handwashed, machine-washed and machine-dried. The yarn has softened up quite nicely and the drying might have shrinked it up some but nothing too noticeable, at least by this wearer.
Mods:
Based upon other comments, I’m making a medium even though my bust is a large.
For the body, I started increasing at 2.5” instead of the 4”. Also, I’m increasing after every 8 rows, instead of the suggested 11. I’m short so I’m adjusting the pattern for my body.
Instead of doing the 7 increases as written into the pattern, I’m doing 4 increases which, if my calculations are right, means that I will need to decrease by 2 stitches to get the multiple of 18 for the bottom band.
Knit for 15” before starting lace hem (part of me being short).
For the neckline, I picked up fewer stitches than recommended and knit 5 rows instead of 3. Turned out very well!
For the sleeves, I did not change to the smaller needles as recommended but I did do the 6 decreases for each sleeve.
July 20: Knit, knit, knit…2” to go before the lace hem.
July 12: Still working on the stockinette. 5” to go!
July 3: I’m on the stockinette body which will seem never-ending. Small yarn…small needles - need I say more.
June 27: Shucks!! I’m well into the lace portion and I’ve come up a stitch short. Looking at my lace, it does seem a bit wonky. The only solution is to frog to the start of the lace and try it again.
