This is a stash busting project, using yarn I bought when Daisy was a baby. I always intended to make her a cardie with it, but looks like it will end up being her little brother who gets it :)

Ended up putting this into hibernation for the summer (good thing I made it large!). Finally put a zip into it the other day and tried it on Gabriel, hoping it would make a nice tank top for him. However, it’s still a little large and for some reason it looks a bit like a dress on him. He’s a very pretty boy, which doesn’t help. I’m thinking some chunky sleeves might help make it less like a pinafore dress, so it clearly isn’t finished after all.

I’m really pleased with the zip, though. Hand basted it in place then just simple pick stitch to attach. I’m going to be adding zips and poppers to more knitted garments. Much better than making button holes!

Really glad I got this finished while it still fits him! The sleeves look great too.

My only issue is to do with the zip insertion meaning the collar now sits too wide at the front. I suppose I could rip it out and redo, but I’m loath to do so as I think he’ll have grown out of it by the time I get around to finishing it off again! It’s not a big issue, anyway, and he got lots of compliments when I took him out in it yesterday :)
