I like this pattern -- it’s adorable! -- but it’s also a little large. I couldn’t check the size as I was knitting, but the finished version is generous. (Good thing I have a big head!) I think I’ll knit it again on smaller needles…

I did a picot cast-off, which is nice and stretchy. It does distort the ribbing when the hat’s not being worn, but it looks pretty good with the hat on.
