Kate’s pattern is brilliant so far. However, it’s written for people with straight, slender fingers, which are decidedly NOT what Dad has. (His index finger is 3 1/4” around at the knuckle.) I am leaving the baby fingers as they are, but I ripped back the ring finger and the middle finger and added some increases, about 3 rounds after the start of each finger. (His fingers are slender enough at the base, but the joints are permanently swollen.)

The thumb and index finger are on hold until the conductive thread gets here, so I’ve started the second glove, and gotten that knit up to the start of the baby finger, as of tonight.

Also, I had to buy a third ball of yarn -- one ball isn’t QUITE enough for one glove, though it’s close. I’d rather have extra than not enough!

I’m stalled now – I’ve finished all but the index fingers and thumbs, and I am waiting for my conductive thread to arrive so that I can knit those. I’m really pleased with the gloves up to this point, and I can’t wait to try them on Dad! (It should be here any day now…)

The conductive thread arrived while I was in California, so I’m working on these again. It turns out that the thread knitted in with the yarn is not enough (wool is too good an insulator!) so I am embroidering dots on the fingers. I’ll knit the thread into the finger and thumb on the right hand but not on the left, so that the gloves can be identified.
