I needed a quickie halloween costume for work, but it had to be removable because halfway through the workday, we had a group of foreign dignitaries arriving and couldn’t be in costume for them. So I invented the Knitting Queen! Lashed some mini-skeins and scrap balls to a hairband using crochet cotton, and poked in a glittery brooch and a tiny 9” circular needle, to make a regal tiara. Added my purple Filemot shawl as a royal cape, and a skein of Zen Yarn Garden as an ermine collar. All I have to do is take off the hair band and pull out the shawl pin, and the whole costume comes off easily! Of course the sweater underneath is handknit too. And the best part? The crochet cotton can be snipped and I can still use all the skeins of yarn as they were intended, after the fact.
