Notes

Aug. 24th: I found out today that my friends are having a little girl, due in January! I’ve been waiting to find out the sex of their baby, because I couldn’t decide on what project to knit first!

The Creatively Dyed yarn (overdyed by Johanna of Lofty Fibres) claims to be a fingering weight, but it’s knitting up more like a sport weight. I started on #3 needles, and did the first four ridges of the yoke on them, but then switched to #5s. (I’m using 16” circs, for the record.) I had to use two strands of the Koigu to approximate the thickness of the Creatively Dyed.

I’m knitting the 6 month size, but given the heavier yarn and needles, I’m guessing this will approximate a 9 month size, at least. The nice thing is, a dress like this can fit for a while -- it can be a long dress at first, and gradually become more of a vest, later. Versatility rocks! :)

March 14, 2011: Just added a comparison picture showing Alice wearing the dress at 5 weeks and at 14 months. I love that she’s still getting wear out of this!
