A gift for Benny. It may be a little early for warm hats, but this is as much for dress-up as for warmth!

I made 3 larger spikes (from the child size in the pattern) and 2 smaller ones (toddler). When I sewed them on, I put a smaller one on either end, and I like the effect. I sewed the spikes on with mattress stitch, rather than the whip stitch shown in the pattern photos, and I’m really pleased with the result. (I could have knit them from picked-up stitches for a similar result, but I was worrying about running short of yarn, so I knit the spikes first -- in case I needed to make the hat brim shallower or use stripes or something.)
