Joining Annie for this KAL.

I do want to try something else with this, though; Suzanne has come up with a BRILLIANT applied GARTER-STITCH icord method. I’ve started with a provisional cast-on plus 3 rounds of plain stockinette, and I’ll work that edging once the cowl is finished.

The charts for this pattern are odd, or maybe it’s just me. The instructions say to shift the markers once, but I’m having to shift them FOUR times per repeat — on round 7, 21, 22, and after round 28. At least, I’m doing that shifting, because I want the columns of slipped/decreased/centred stitches to stay aligned, as they appear in the chart.

After 2 full repeats (but no border) I have 62 grams left. If this trend continues, I can do 4.5 repeats of the pattern, plus the borders, I think.

3 full repeats done; 42.9 grams left.

After 4 repeats I have 22.2 gr remaining, but the cowl is already about 16” long (unblocked) so I’m going to stop now and do the applied garter i-cord.

Doing the applied garter edging with size 3 US needles, over 4 sts.

Bottom edge bound off; 17.7 gr remaining
