Notes

This is SO cool, but definitely requires trust! You definitely have to knit 6 or 8 rows minimum into the body of the cowl before you can tell if you’ve got the set-up right, which is kind of terrifying given the length of the rows, but once you’ve done that, you’re really off to the races, and it’s really mostly mindless knitting.

I attached a locking stitch marker to the side of the fabric where I needed to work the miters -- which, though you work them on the same row, work out to appear on opposite sides of the fabric. That helped me keep track in between the very long rows, so I didn’t do the decreases EVERY row, or miss a row that should have had them.

Also, because this is a moebius strip, and therefore doesn’t have right or wrong sides, I’ve been doing my stripes in bands of 1, 3, or 5 rows. That way, whichever way the fabric is facing, the stripes are equally jumbled. Otherwise, you get an effect of one miter looking really tidy and one looking really chaotic where they bump up against each other, due to the way garter stripes work.
