1st 3 pics are from my original attempt. Returning to it after a year or two away, my gauge was all off and I couldn’t figure out exactly what I thought I was doing with the stitch pattern.
So:
Using this technique to join yarns -
http://alongcameabreeze.blogspot.com/2013/09/double-knot-... - I’m winding 2 separate balls and alternating every other row to break the colors up a bit more.
US 7 needle
CO 60 sts (long-tail with 2 different yarns, leaving a pretty generous end that I’ll work into the fringe later)
Always slip as if to purl.
Row 1: p1, sl1 wyib, repeat to end
Row 2: k1, sl1 wyif, repeat to end
End after row 1.
Knitted bind-off on the knit side.
For fringe:
Cut lengths of yarn at least 16” long (I measured against my arm, which gave me lengths about 23”).
Hold 3 together and fold in half, lining up the ends of the shortest piece.
Insert a crochet hook from purl side to knit side & pull the 3 strands through by their middle, then pull the ends through this loop (basically a chain stitch, but pulling the ends all the way through).
I added fringe in every other stitch at both ends, then trimmed to 8” with a rotary cutter.
