I want to knit a rug for my living room. Swatching to find out if this idea will work. Swatch came out pretty good, now to find the right yarn and (longer) needles.

swatch #2 was crocheted in the round and cat approved. we love it. this swatch is going to be the center of the rug. will crochet around and around and around, using 5 strands at a time. increasing randomly, until our sitting area has a nice and warm floor again. I’m amazed every time I pick up my project at how this acrylic crap is looking nice enough. seriously! it is sooo plastic and yet such a good attempt at looking like wool.

Dec 3rd: happily knitting away in my acrylic universe. it’s cold and snowy outside. I’m quite warm, covered by a square meter of rug.

Dec. 17th: finished crocheting. the thing is big enough to cover the floor in the sitting area. now need to get the stuff to sew to the bottom side, to make it less slippery.
