Making in red with gold braid instead of ribbon, to go with my steampunk outfit. Only using a double YO instead of triple for the center because my braid is narrower than the suggested ribbon.
This turned out QUITE lovely. Mine is 12” long, plus about half an inch or a centimeter for the little loops. I’m so glad I checked my neck size instead of going by the pattern because I would have ended up with something 1.5” too big! As it was, I was able to do whole number of pattern repeats, no partials. (Probably 5? I’m too lazy to count.)
Yardage count is estimate based on using 35 grams of the same yarn between this and my Punkish gloves.
In the in-progress pic, you can see my super-janky $2 magnetic pattern holder. I put three strips of magnet on a plastic folder, then taped the chart sheet on top of it. (I used the adhesive kind of magnet strip that comes in a roll, but I ended up taping down the ends because they wanted to curl up, so I’m not sure adhesiveness is really necessary.) I added a steel ruler to mark the row, face-down for best magnetism, et voila! Super-easy reading of the chart even with something as wide as this one. Definitely will be saving this to use again for any other landscape-oriented charts. I might even make another one that’s vertical - I do still have extra magnet.
(I also used a couple binder clips and another folder to keep my place - the chart keeper was placed entirely inside the folder, with the binder clips on either side of the ruler, clipped to ruler and folders alike.)
