Inspired by KarinV’s purple yarn eater I’m gonna try and bust some stash with this project and will keep track of how much goes into it.
Of course I forgot to weigh the first two sets of rows but I’ll keep track starting with rows 5-6
Update August 16: Finished the final of 21 double rows with dark blue. I will be adding an edge using grey and some of the other colors in a similar way to eclecticmoi’s blanket
Update August 18: Did 4 rows of gray SC’s but I think I’m doing each row a little tighter because I started with 16gr and the 4th row was 14gr. Will try to make the next rows a little looser so it doesn’t curl……
Update August 19: Finished! On the hottest day of the year of all days. It’s 1449 grams total and measures 156x156cm. The edges do curl a little bit. I’m going to wash and dry the blanket because I know that helps this acrylic go softer.
Update August 21: I washed the blanket on delicate (fijne was) with fabric softener and put it in the dryer on warm for 15 minutes. The acrylic is now so much softer, the difference is incredible. IT has a lot more drape too, which is nice but it does make me realise you should crochet for the end result, not the way it feels when you’re working on it. In retrospect I should have crocheted the wool eater part with 4mm instead of 5mm and the SC edge with 5mm, instead of doing the whole blanket with 5mm. The main issue is that the wool eater part is now wider/looser than the SC edge, and I would have liked the wool eater part to be a bit denser than it is now after washing/drying. I still love it, but if I would make another one I would go for the 4mm for the pattern and 5mm for SC edge.
