Notes

Lightbulb! Going to attach each hexipuff to the next while knitting so that the pretty flowers in the self-striping come out BEE.EAUTIFULLY! Can’t wait to see it take shape! Yardage indicated is added as I work through the skeins.

Colour pattern is :
{Rose} {Orange Blossom} {Butterscotch} {Fern} {Petunia} {Lavender}

Used 3.5mm needles for the Bernat Baby Jacquard Florals & 5.0mm needles for the Impeccable Solid colours. Placing a marker after the 1st stitch of the round made it very easy to know when to start & stop the increases/ decreases.

At the end of the last knit round of 1st hexipuff, with 10 stitches on the 3.5mm needles, I tried a few ways to join the hexipuffs, including knitting the stitches from each needle together to keep the stuffing in & then increase the stitches back to 10 sts on the next round but the all made for too thick & bluky transition. I ended up simply using regular thread, 4 strands think, to stitch it up on the inside (see picture) & then started the increases for next hexipufff on the very next row. I found that starting further in, on the 2nd group of stitches, helped keep the knot in the thread hidden. Using a basic running stitich like would be used for a hem was the best way to get the closing of the hexipuff tight enough.

For the Petunia, measure 23” from the dark purple to cast on. Each hexipuff takes roughly 330” (5 lengths + 30” of my measuring tape). This will make a solid purple hexipuff & make it easier to get the flowered self striping in one hexipuff.

For the 5.0mm needles, I cast on 14 sts to be divided into 7 sts on each needle. Increase & knit rows over 6 rounds until 13 sts on each needle, ending with a knit row. Then decreases & knit rows over the next 6 rounds until back to 7 sts on each needle. After stuffing & stitching up on the inside, started the increases for the next hexipuff.

Casting off all lengths on the round that would have been the knit by holding the needles together & knitting together the inside of the stitches and then passing the new stitch over the next until the last stitch, then pulling yarn through.

With 4 hexipuffs hanging over the foot edge of the bed, I knit a total of 41 hexipuffs to reach the head of the bed. Looks like would need a total of 25 lengths to cover the bed. It looks soooo pretty!

Little E wants the quilt pattern to be along the length of the bed. Going to make 4 lengths in each of the colours, except Arbor Rose (her favourite colour) will have an extra length to be the last one. She also wants the edge of the quilt to be finished in a straight across so I am going to only knit 40 hexipuffs and a trapazoid at the beginning & end of the Orange Blossom, Lavender & Soft Fern lengths.

Worked on an Impeccable Solids length to change up from all the socks I’ve been making.
