What a beautiful, beautiful pattern - a lovely, simple and relaxing garter stitch body. Stitches are then easily picked up (thanks to the slip stitch loops) and a very pretty lace border is added, which really comes to life post-blocking.
Perfect size and shape, with the generous lace border make this shawl ever so wearable and a joy!
Mods: absolutely none needed. perfect pattern.
BO shawl with a 5.5mm needle to attain a loose edge for the blocking of the lace border.
Yarn: I’ve been eyeing up the Martin’s Lab Merino for some time - I spend an awful lot of time on Instagram drooling at all the yarnie pics. Instagram is one of the social media revolutions that I think is actually really positive - though as a photography enthusiast, I would say this.
Anyhow, managed to snag myself a few skeins of the merino from Tangled Yarn - the ‘baby flamingo’ is the most lovely peachy-plink shade with splatters of fuchsia and peach. It is also, as in its name, very bouncy and works so well in garter stitch - all that squidgy goodness - swoon!
Extremely impressed with the dye artistry and I have almost a complete skein leftover to incorporate into another shawl. On that note: I ran out of yarn on Row 7 of the final lace border pattern. I had two rows left to complete and BO - thankfully, I had another skein to hand, but obviously would have been a bonus to squeeze a complete shawl out of a single skien (for pure satisfaction reasons).
Overall: in love. Totally summer-worthy in every sense - pattern and yarn. Not sure if I’ve blocked my BO edge properly - it appears that others have achieved different end-results. I’m happy with what I’ve done - I’ve sort of pulled out each ‘blossom’ along the three visible ‘spines’ - I like how this looks, though I’m not certain this is how it’s supposed to be?!
