Notes

Used ~370 yd color A (Itata); ~400 yd color B (Bugga).

A really fun pattern and I love the FO! My choices for colors A & B knit at slightly different gauges, but I really wanted to knit with yarn from my stash. Knit section 1 (A) with size 6 needle. Switched to size 5 for Chart 1 (B); back to size 6 on first rows with color A on Chart 2 and remainder of shawl.

Pattern is not difficult for those experienced with reading charts for flat knitting. I am so used to knitting in the round, that it has taken me 1/3 of chart 1 to get into the groove. Once on the charts, I have to give the knitting all of my attention or I lose the rhythm.

On section 1 I did the M1s to avoid holes on both sides of the slipped stitch (sometimes used the stitch below rather than the ladder between stitches). That may have been a mistake. I don’t have holes along the garter edge border; however, there is a bit of puckering. The puckering shouldn’t be a problem given the way the wrap drapes around the neck and over the shoulders. Love working with the Itata Solid.

On Chart 1 directions for the M1s are given & how I M1s when knitting socks. It is sometimes tricky to make sure I am using the ladder behind the slipped stitch for the M1L. It can kinda disappear; most likely I’m not slipping the stitch loosely enough on the stitches between quadrants, however, not having a problem with puckering.

After Chart 1, chart 2 is wonderful! Much easier except the rows do get longer and longer and longer…. Bound off using US 7 needle rather than use a stretchy bind off. Worked just fine.
