This might end up being what I do with the ESK yarn, rather than bird’s nest, and nixing bird’s nest as part of the NEWT, because this sucker is more complicated than I thought.

US4s for garter tab. Didn’t slip the edge stitches on the tab. Long tail CO and picking up sts instead of crochet CO. Switched to US3s for the yo set-up row that’s immediately after picking up the garter tab sts. Will continue with the US3s through Chart E.
