decided to make a 2row navy blue stripe at the increase row after a 20 rows of the Kaki.

Going to knit this one in the round and use elastic in the casing rather than a drawstring. - Backwards loop cast on 116 stitches in the pink ‘Safran’ and knit in stockinette for 5 rows back and fourth. Joined on the 6th row and worked a picot round (YO knit 2tog). Changed colours to Navy Blue on the following round and continued in stockinette for an additional 8 rows to create the waistband before switching to Kaki to begin the main body of the skirt.

About done with the 3rd ball of Kaki but I think I’ll be able to make it through another 1-1/2 or 2 inches of the 4th tier before starting on the navy blue border I’m planning to put on the bottom.

Done! and I mean really done! In the end the ‘picot’ hem and waistband were not as difficult or time consuming to finish as I’d imagined. Because they were in a contrasting color, it was easy to see the ‘bump’ on the purl side which I picked up with the live hem stitch and knit together in a kind of 3-needle-chain-bindoff which was much faster than sewing and it stabilized both the top edge and the bottom edge.
I decided to add some crocheted flowers as decorations and used a grosgrain ribbon instead of the knitted i-cord for the drawstring (with a little extra elastic inside the casing in case the ribbon comes untied!).
