Fun to knit and tons of options for changing the edging. I can see that after knitting it up in Cotton it would also be great in wool for late fall or early spring (here in Northern Italy). Pattern is worth every penny!

Measurements provided were both thorough and helpful and even though my girl is 6-1/2 I knit the size 6 and it fits perfectly! Went down on the needle sizes by 1 to obtain the correct gauge with my yarn.
My only mod so far is that I knit only the picot edging in a contrasting color so, I did one extra knit round in the new color after I completed the garter stitch so that I wouldn’t get any blue showing through when I cast off.

My girl wanted a flower ‘belt’ around the bottom so I crocheted up a few flowers (pattern at http://www.allcrafts.net/crochetsewingcrafts.htm?url=mycrochetstuff.blogspot.com/2008/05/little-flowers-with-leaves-free-crochet.html) without the leaves though - didn’t want it too crowded!

I can see that this pattern will be useful for many years to come as the basis for almost any top-down raglan sleeve cardigan I might want to make for my girl until she’s 10 :).
