Decided for these as the wooden floors in my old dusty house won’t do well with cream coloured anything - so I’m saving my ‘ptarmigan’ for another project ;). The ‘squall’ is super silky feeling, very nice!
Started with 3.5mm needles but saw quickly that I’d need to change to 3mm - using my trusty Addi Turbo 3mm x 80cm and it’s right on gauge for the stitches (26 = 4”) but I’m not going to get row gauge per the pattern, I’ve got 8 rows/1”.
Extra note: the natural blended “squall” knits differently from the dyed Highland Coo. The dyed wool makes a denser fabric.

Cast on with Judy’s magic cast on and working magic loop rather than 2 circulars or DPNs.
Decided to do M1L and M1R slanted increases for toe.

One down, one to go. Notes: The row gauge never did work out and I didn’t want to increase the circumference that was already ‘big’ for me - so, two options: get row gauge or get stitch gauge. I chose the latter as it made a denser fabric and these are, after all, slippers. After the toe, I did 36 rows in the MC and then the full 14 ridges (28 rows) of garter striping.
When I reached the garter stripes, I could have gone up to a 3.5mm needle as at that point the circumference was no longer an issue. I might have saved a few yards of yarn, but I prefer having the denser, cushier fabric. The I cord bind off cinched up the opening nicely and the finished fit is quite nice.
Used DPNs for 3needle bind-off and I cord bind-off. Added 2 rows of I-cord ‘ease’ at center back of heel per pattern instructions.

Finished, very quick project and ‘Coo’ looks great with my Lombard terracotta tiles :). The yarn is very bouncy and at the more compact row gauge makes a good barrier between my bare foot and my tile floor!
