10-18-2019 Swatching

started swatch with 6.5…we’ll see how it turns out.

10-21-2019 Doing things a little differently

swatch was good so I got started. I decided to make a slightly more tapered shape on the bottom so that it is closer to my favourite red cotton sweater that I wear in the spring/summer. I’m worried about having enough yarn so I did a provisional cast on of 122 stitches, knit up 1.5 inches and increased by 4 on either side of the side markers (126), went up another inch from there and increased another 4 stitches to 130 - the right stitch count for size 1. I’m intending to knit 7.5 inches in before starting the sleeves and then add the bottom ribbing after I’ve got the rest of the body completed.

10-31-2019 Sleeves and body attached

Got the sleeves and body attached this evening while waiting for daughter to come back from trick-or-treat ;). Made the sleeves 18” to accomodate my long arms and continue to check yarn quantities. So far:
Body w/o ribbing: 1 ball of doubled yarn (2 skeins)
2 sleeves (18” each) 1.66 balls of yarn doubled, using remainder of 3rd ball to start yoke.

11-08-2019 Grafted sleeves to body and completed bottom ribbing

Really good sleeve and body grafting tutorial at:

make sleeves longer next time 02-26-2021

I like this cardigan, both for fit and colour; but, if I make another one I will lengthen the arms even more, about another inch (19” total). At 18” they fall right above my wrist bone and I find myself often wearing wrist warmers with it to compensate.
