Looking for a stash-busting project and inspired by Jenjay’s striped raglan t-shirts, I found this pattern for a 6 year old that fits my daughter perfectly. It’s top-down so I just knit until I ran out of yarn!
Mods:

1. Stripes
2. Garter stitch rather than seed stitch on the contrasting bands.
3. ’Ruffle’ after the first garter stitch accent band at the bottom because I was out of yellow yarn and needed a little more length. To make the ruffle: after the final purl row in turquoise I knit one row of green and then increased (knit f/b) every other stitch and then added a two rows of blue garter stitch accent before doing a chain stitch cast-off.

I made the collar, cuffs and bottom edging with a little smidge of turquoise Kashmirino that I had left over and the body in stripes of Lana Gatto’s ‘supersoft’ in grass green and lemon yellow. This yarn is not my favourite but, that makes it ideal for a kid’s sweater; my daughter will grow out of it before it gets too ‘pilly’.
