UPDATE ON THIS YARN: NOT SO GOOD FOR SOCKS!
Felted just from my daughter’s warm feet inside her winter boots even before they were washed.
Although I have always washed by hand in cold water with mild soap for wool - these socks have shrunk enough that they slide down on the heel and they have continued to felt. She still loves them but I would not recommend nor use again for socks. Would be perfect for ‘knit and felt’ slippers.

Valentine socks for my little girl

Cast on 48 rather than 64 and did the lace chart 3 times rather than 4 after lace did 2-1/2” of ribbing and made gusset across 24 stitches (heel flap length 1.5). Final sole length 6.5” from back of heel to tip of toe. Did toe rounds per pattern until 12 stitches remained on instep and 12 on sole before grafting toe closed.
