Finished this project one day late for a proper 6th wedding anniversary present to my husband. the sewn facing on the neck just took a really long time :P! But, I’m happy to say that he loves it, it fits, it looks good. This is the first time in a long time that I’ve designed a sweater from scratch, which is to say that I mostly made it up as I went along. So, I’m glad that even with quite a few changes along the way the end product is exactly what my husband wanted and he’s super happy to finally have a sweater that he can wear in the early spring and late fall.
The yarn has beautiful drape knit up on 4mm needles (US 6) and I love the colours and the texture. FYI, it has no elasticity at all, despite the wool content. So, I’m glad I used it on this project where I wanted that.

Progress has been made! almost up to the split for the sleeves where I’m going to have to decide exactly how I want to do the shoulders/sleeves since I’m designing this one myself ;).
Having recently received my new ‘Islay’ pattern book from Kate Davies, I took a look at the sleeve on the Ardmore Gansey to help me think about the sleeve on this sweater. It turns out the the row gauge is the same so, despite the fact that I have thinner yarn and fewer ‘held’ stitches under the arm, I was able to successfully adapt this technique to the sleeves for this sweater - it looks good and it fits :).
