Notes

Because my gauge was larger than the pattern gauge due to the Aran weight yarn, I did the math and figured out that I should follow the directions for the size 2 even though my daughter is 9 years old (so maxi-mini) ;)! I did the cable cast-on for the size 2 and after about 10 rows in to the pattern, I found it way, way too small and the cable cast on unpleasantly rigid.
So, I ripped it all out and started again with the cast on for the size 6 with a modified cable cast on that was softer but not stretchy. Then I followed the increases for the size 6 until I reached row 22 where I did no increases but only YO k2tog for the eyelet. I then adjusted the increases over rows 23-30 to arrive at the size 2 total of 124 stitches and then followed the size 2 stitch counts for dividing the fronts/sleeves/back.

My daughter never wore this because she didn’t like the 3/4-length sleeves and the fact that it didn’t close and keep her warm. So, I sewed the placket closed in the front and knitted in a high collar and then ripped back and put in full-length sleeves. It looks great and now she wears it ;)!
