Decided to make a hat for the gauge swatch for Yoke Sweater/Gauntlets. Stayed with a size 3mm needle but used two different techniques to shift the row gauge (still having trouble getting it with this yarn and any needles!)
Cast on 120 with 3mm needles and knit in 2x2 rib for 1.5 inches. Then increased 6 stitches (lifted increase every 20 stitches) for a count of 126. Used gauntlet chart and did 6 color bands as follows:

Did first 3 bands of colourwork with picking (both yarns coming from left hand) and the second set of 3 bands using ’peruvian’ knitting with the yarn around my neck and so ‘picking’ from the front as this results in a smaller stitch/row count with the same needles. Still needs washing and blocking to check the gauge properly but it sure makes up into a cute, cosy hat!

I get stitch gauge knitting continental (26) but not row gauge (29) off by 4. But when knitting Peruvian I get row gauge (33) but not stitch gauge (27.5) GRRRR!
