Notes

Making this pattern with a thicker weight cotton yarn for my daughter’s early spring and/or first fall sweater this year. Going to see if I can adapt the Port Charlotte pattern for the yoke with the rainbow colours of Drops brand ‘Paris’ cotton that I have on hand… at least the bottom and the sleeves will give me some time to work up my confidence for the challenge ;).

It was really a challenge to convert this for a kid’s size and an aran weight yarn at the same time. But, in the end it fits beautifully and my daughter is very happy so I am too ;). I’m thinking of knitting myself a woolen one.
I will say it was very difficult to do this loosely enough in cotton. It’s very unforgiving when it comes to tension and when doing the knit row of the white background where there is the s1 knit 2 tog psso….it’s a difficult balance to keep the tension even but not too loose nor too tight. On the green row I struggled.
By the by, the dots don’t line up after the decrease row. I kept thinking they should because it seemed logical and nothing was mentioned about it in the pattern; but, they don’t (not only on mine but also on others as I found out by looking really carefully at the pictures). Not to worry as it’s not even noticeable in the finished sweater but if it happens, don’t worry, you haven’t done anything wrong :)!
Because it’s cotton and so heavier and less stretchy, I did a rolled rib collar and grafted it to the inside.

Very happy with the result!
