Cast on 72 stitches. 1x1 rib for 18 rounds. Changed colours and started pattern with round join in center back.
K9, (K4, P1, K1, P1, K4, P1, K1, P1, K4) K 18, repeat section in parentheses, K9 to marker. Knit three rounds like this then make cable. After that make cable every 6th round until sock measures appx 5-1/2” from cast-on edge (9 cables).
Adjust stitches so that there are 12 st on either side of the center back marker. Start heel in accent colour: 36 rows of reinforced heel stitch (S1, K1) on right side rows and Purl all on WS rows.
Flat-iron heel turn and normal gusset (i.e. pick up 18/19 stitches along edge of heel flap and work back down to 24 stitches, decreasing every other row.
