Notes

It was fun learning the Old Norwegian cast-on. I’ve never done it before and in the end I found it easiest to follow the written instructions (and not the diagram) from my copy of ‘Folk Socks“. The only thing I would do differently is cast-on on larger needles or over two because, as is, it’s a bit tight for my taste. I did do the trick of casting on an extra stitch and then slipping the first one to the RH needle on the joining round and knitting the first, slipped stitch and the extra stitch together at the end of the joining round to get rid of the jog - works like a charm.

Yarn is pretty and very springy, I love the color! The lace pattern is super easy to remember. As soon as I had made the first 8 rounds I already had it down. Good plan to place a round marker on round 1 of each set of 8 so that if you’re interrupted you can find your place without too much effort.

Had split the yarn into two balls, one for each sock. I saw when I finished my first one, I realized there was a big enough part of the 1st ball left to make a smaller sock for my daughter. She’s very excited that we’re going to have matching socks ;).

so happy that these came out so quickly and so pretty. Pattern easy to follow, socks fit great, yarn is the right weight for spring or early fall and there was just enough for two pairs: one pair for my size 8 feet and one pair for my daughter’s kids size 13. Yay for fast and pretty socks! For my daughter’s socks I did cast on over 2 needles and that’s really perfect as it means the top edge is stretchier.
