June 8th - They are all finished and ready to go. 18 knitted daffodils plus some fake-leaves, for a friend. Hope she likes them.

Break down of what I made -
4 solid yellow
4 yellow base, orange cup
4 white base, cream cup
3 white base, yellow cup
3 cream base, yellow cup.

Each flower used less than 5g yarn (including the ends from changing colours). Probably closer to like, 2 or 3, but I didn’t weigh them properly before they got finished.

Mom did the stems and things. The knitting only took a few days, but the not-knitting took longer.

Daffodils! I have typed daffodils so many times in the last few days that it doesn’t even look like a word any more, omg.

This pattern is fantastic. Super fast, very easy to memorise for me after the second daffodil, and looks like it’s supposed to, as well!

I did make some slight modifcations in order to make it perfect. The picture with two different looking solid yellow flowers shows the differences (original on left, mod on right) They are as follows -

-I used worsted weight and US 5 needles. I tried one on the 3’s and it was too teeny, and also kind of a pain in the but to knit that tight. I get a firm fabric on 5’s, so I was (rightly) confident that it’d be fine.

-I did my standard double decrease (sl2tog,k1,ps2so) instead of the sl1,k2tog,psso one, and it looks MUCH better in my opinion.

-I added a knit row after the last decrease, before the purl row. This was mostly so I’d get a nice colour change row before the purls. It also makes the cup taller, which I wanted

-On the 9th plain knit row, I “k2, ssk” around (This makes the cup stand upright instead of curling out on itself)

-On row 11, I did no YO’s, and just knit

-For the bind off, I did a 1 st picot (k2, bo 1, “co 1, bo2”) sort of thing all around. It gives it a pointier cup top than the YO’s were doing.

The yarn I’m using is Brown Sheep Nature Spun Worsted, (yellow and orange), Kraemer Perfection Worsted (light yellow), and Plymouth Encore Worsted (white). Dunno about the green stems yet.
