A shawl out of mysterious grey alpaca lace weight. The yarn was a gift, and did not have a label. It was a 50g ball, and I’m guessing somewhere in the 400+ yardage range. It’s so light and dainty, like a fairy’s fart!
Total weight is 42 grams
Knit on a 6, last row done with an 8, bind off done with a 10. I did 4 st garter edge, and m1’s instead of yo’s around the center spine.
This is a cute pattern, although I had an alarming (for me) amount of trouble and mistakes on the edging. I finally figured out that it’s because reading the WS rows on the chart backward completely mess with my head, and I try to automatically mirror whatever I’m looking at, but it’s sort of half mirrored already, so it was just a big ball of fail on my part. Nothing wrong with the chart at all, I just should have flipped the WS rows to read as-worked, but from right to left.
And note to future self - do not block a shawl this colour, and fine detail on the sheet that is very nearly, but not quite, the same colour. You will be miserable if you do. Even more so if you try to do this on a day when it’s uncomfortable to bend over fully. And if you, future self, are stupid enough to do that again, make sure it’s a shawl with a straight edge, NOT the cute, but hard-to-center puff things like this one. omg.
