To adjust the pattern to be worn by a fast-growing 9year-old:

• cast on 140 sts.

• to set up for the pocket, k15, double sts for 40, then k to end of row. The pocket will be 40 sts wide and 34 rows high.

• for the pocket:

  row 1-20 as in pattern, row 21: bo 5, k 25; row 22 bo 5 k 20; row 23 as in pattern.

  repeat until 20 sts remain, knit even for 2 rows.

• upper body: knit as in pattern for 6 cc stripes, then end in striping pattern round 9.

• sleeves: co 28,

• increase 2 sts in row 7; then in
  stiping patterns row 2 and 7 each 2 sts until 5 stripes are done;
  then for 5 stipes, increase 2 sts in
  striping pattern row 2; sleeves end in striping pattern row 9

• yoke: setup round k10 pm, decrease 1 before marker in every 8th row for 55 rows in total

• elongate the neck as in pattern

• hood: co 15 sts at the front, then double every second stitch all the way round. Knit the hood straight up, adding a 6 sts garter brim in the front (this will be a pointed hood)
