Notes

Originally I was going to make this for my nephew John in Irvine, CA, but he and his wife bought a new house and are remodeling it to move into sometime after the first of the year. They don’t know their colors, so my young nephew in Spokane with the same first name (not relatives, however) gets to be the recipient. I started one for him last year but it never did feel right. I think he will like this one better…it is rather ‘retro’ looking!

I love the pattern. There are a lot out there similar to this one, and for all I know they may be the same, but chose this one as liked the afghan in the photo. It is a soothing pattern to make, and goes very fast. I can make three squares in one day easily.

11/18/14: I have added quite a few rows for the border. I probably should have added six more, but ran out of steam. It is only about 40 inches wide, but a little over 6’ long. He is a tall drink of water for a 13 - 14 year old! I am doing a crab stitch as the very last row, but if he needs it wider, I can take that out or just work behind it and add more rows.

12/6/14: Just could not bare to send it when I felt that it was still a little too narrow. After the last crab stitch row I put three more rows of double crochet. Sent it off this morning!
