Notes

Using Cookie (ShutUpAndKnit)’s delightful handspun yarn.

Modified the pattern slightly to get a wider, shallower shawl by increasing 6 stitches over 2 rows rather than the normal 4. To get the extra two stitches, I increased at each end of the WS rows as follows:

k2, p1, pf&b, purl across to last 4 sts, pf&b, p1, k2

I had to modify the beginning (and ends) of each RS row to accommodate the extra stitches, so it’s not quite as mindless as the pattern normally is.

I stopped doing the WS increases when I got to the edging.

Ran out of yarn on the bindoff, so I ripped out the bindoff and the bindoff setup row, then the last row of the edging. I worked the bindoff setup row on the WS (purling instead of knitting), then bound off on the RS, again purling instead of knitting. Ended with just under a yard of yarn left over.

Since I needed a different number of stitches to start off my modified pattern, I did a 7-stitch garter tab to start the shawl.
