Great way to use up some aran-weight yarn that’s too much for small projects, but not enough for a sweater. The yarn I used probably doesn’t have as much drape as the yarn called for in the pattern, but I guess it worked well enough. Worsted weight yarn might be good for this pattern, too.

Knit according to the pattern, except that I did not bother to slip the first stitch of each row. I used the Estonian Lace bind-off.

The pattern would be easy to make larger or smaller, or to modify the proportion of stockinette to lace if desired, and the stitch pattern is easy to memorize.

Blocked it heavily - measures 61” across, 26” down the spine.

The yarn in two of the skeins was quite a bit thicker than in the other skeins. I used those up in the body of the shawl, so the difference between the skeins isn’t noticeable. (I originally bought 13 skeins - same lot, all purchased together - the two thicker ones were from a sealed bag of 10 skeins. Fortunately I only needed 9 for the original project, since the difference between the thicknesses was definitely noticeable in stockinette.)

Because of the odd thickness of half of the yarn used, the total yardage used was probably a bit less than what is indicated above, since the skeins wouldn’t have had as much yardage as normal.
