Notes

Yarn has sage green, goldenrod, periwinkle and a white in it, more like an autumn meadow than a mossy rock to me. Looks pretty good knit up, think it will be ok for a guy’s color.

Cast on 48 sts, k2p2 for 1 ” then start garter stitch rib for total 7 1/2”. Shift stitches so instep will have 1 knit stitch at each side. Do heel stitch, pick up 16 for gusset (then gradually decrease back to 48 sts).

To reduce pooling while doing the gusset, alternate rows using the other ball of yarn.

Continue in pattern on instep until foot is 8 3/4” long, then do star toe. Total length of foot is 10 1/2”.

This will take slightly more than 2 balls of yarn, if you don’t have some leftovers from another pair you’ve knit then reduce the cuff length a bit or else do the toe in coordinating color. I used periwinkle for the toe.

These were for my father-in-law for Father’s Day. My mother-in-law loved them so much I’m going to make her a pair including the periwinkle toe as they both liked the toe!
