6-25 Finished and blocking. 93” long, 20” deep. At a guess, I’m saying it took 900 yards all told. I did the mod that just about everyone recommends… at beginning of every row, K1, YO, K1 and continue with pattern; then drop the YO on the return row. This loosens up the edge and makes it possible to block straight. I’m a loose knitter and this was necessary, so if you’re a tight knitter, be sure to knit the first 4 stitches of every row more loosely than normal and you should be all right. I also made sure to pick up the new strand of color from underneath the other strand(s) at the beginning of the row in the striped sections, rather like you do for intarsia. I also learned and used Jeny’s Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-Off.

Much as I would love to go on a buying spree and get 3 lovely skeins of TML for this, I am using reclaimed yarn from thrift store sweaters and some of my estate sale alpaca. I desperately need a little garter stitch in my life. And I can think a little longer about what shades of TML I will choose when I have money, for my second version!
