All my handmade socks are wearing through, and darning won’t save them forever.
Yesterday I bought some Araucania yarn from Aberystwyth. I’m going to wind it into balls, start knitting, and keep knitting until I’ve run out. I’ve already got City of Ember playing to keep me company and a cup of nettle and peppermint tea. Heaven.
That should keep me going for a while, eh?

One sock done! Plain toe-up with provisional cast-on for seamless comfiness, 60 stitches, 1x1 ribbing around the cuff. My next one will hopefully be with spirally thingies or stripy.
10th February 2013
Self-inflicted disaster strikes. I machine washed some of the socks, forgetting that this yarn isn’t machine-washable/superwash, and now they are only slightly too big for the toddler of the house. DOOM. Drowning my sorrows in some other variegated superwash sock yarn for the time being…
I deem this project complete, since the toddler’s mum would actually like the toddler to have some warm snuggly felted socks for him, and since I will most probably use this yarn for something I’m unlikely to automatically machine wash.
Whoops.
