A hat for Jacob in his school colors.

Took awhile to get the hat set up for striping the way I wanted. Not really a fan of how the yarn stripes. As much as I dislike colorwork, I would have preferred having more control over the stripes by using two colors of yarn.

Didn’t have size 8 needles, so went up to size 9. I managed to get gauge with the 9s, but the end hat size seems a little loose (at least for me).

The ear flaps are too stiff for my liking, especially since I didn’t add the braids. To keep them--and the brim flat--I added a final row of crochet SLST. The edges still want to roll a bit.

Not sure if the garter edge was supposed to be visible when adding the ear flaps. I decided to keep the ridge by picking up stiches below it.

Added a pom pom to the top.
