Wanted to make this as a Christmas gift for my son who likes Invader Zim.

This is a super cute project that is very easy to make.

Directions called for size 8 needles, but due to my tight tension I went up to size 9. The hat fits me perfectly and since my son and I are similar in size and height, I think it will fit him well. I knitted the hat while watching the BBC version of Pride & Prejudice.

Initially I planned to knit all of the extra pieces separately then sew them on because picking up stitches would be a lot of hassle. Then I remembered how much I detest sewing things on to my crocheted plushies and saw the light.

The best discovery was finding out that the ears are posable!

I’m thinking of making a second for myself.

Update:

Sewing the eyes turned out to be much easier than sewing stuff onto crocheted plushies.

Turned out the tongue wasn’t properly centered, so I had to redo it. Not really a big deal.

I had some problems with making the pupils, but I found this tutorial: knittycat’s Yarn Knot Eyes for Peeps Tutorial. After a few attempts, I got the hang of the technique.

I can’t wait to give this to my son for Christmas. (^=^)
