My first crochet project I’ve attempted since I was a child--about twenty years ago. I was searching for gaming related cakes and stumbled on this Katamari Infant hat. The moment I saw it, I knew I had to make it and fortunately I was going to have another nephew shortly.

This is definitely not a beginner’s pattern since some of the techniques took me awhile to understand and I already have a basic technical understanding. The bonnet took me a few tries and the antenna was hands down the most difficult aspect of the pattern (I still don’t think I did it right). That said, it’s also not a difficult pattern, either.

I choose to use the Vanna’s Choice yarn because I needed to use three similar greens and I didn’t like any of the other colours from other brands. The finished piece has colours that are more muted and subdued than the original game, but I like it. o(^_^)o

Despite the trouble it took me to get the baby hat right, the effort was worth it. The finished piece is just adorable and I was happy to give it to my sister-in-law for Christmas.
