Crazy fun… but wow, what a challenge! Made a step by step instruction sheet and I check off each little section (also listing final stitch count of each repeat section after increase/decrease rows) has cut waaaay back on having to rip back a couple of rows (due to complex layout, it’s all but impossible to visualize where extra/ missing stitches occurred!)… I just LOVE the results!
Cotton probably not the best choice, but I’ve had these Bonbons for awhile now and the colors are already coordinated.
10/10/14 - finished! Had quite a bit of light purple and yellow left over but I’m not sure why (I’d tried to balance them throughout) I ended up dying some Paton Grace to match the green and the pink to finish with a little more variation. Knit together the beginning with end to make a circular scarf (provisional cast on would’ve helped) - neglected to add ‘solid’ stripe… Oops. I’ll just wear that in the back rather than go back and redo. Stunning, if I say so myself. <3
9/28/14 - just about out of yarn… have 9 repeats done and will probably get a 10th with what’s left - should be enough for a short-ish infinity scarf/long cowl. Bought a set of sparkly Bonbons for a Holiday version! :) It’s like Lionbrand planned it that way!
9/15/14 - almost done with 8th solid stripe… have 8 different colors in my Bonbon set… probably should plan out sequence, as has been done for the 5 colors in the original pattern to ensure even distribution. However, it seems like it really won’t matter too much, as long as the colors coordinate. Next I’m going to try a long striping handspun alternating every 2 rows with some solid gray heather… might work or might not. Hm.
Go look at http://www.ravelry.com/projects/mathildeknits/fox-paws to see how she used the grayscale photo technique to make sure that her color choices were balanced… cool!
