Nearly dry and softly blocked. Very drape-y and soft. Reminds me of peacock feathers, even if the color isn’t quite right. Cool!
6/14/14 - 3 am - done-ish. Still need to block and photograph. Whew! I’m too tired to calculate yardage - I think I need to divide totals of double fingering yarn… but it’s looking loverly.
6/9/14 - about 1/4 done - 6 repeats across and 6 up and down - yielding 16” x 16” (will be wider but not longer after dropping stitches). I have used 103 yds of the CC (the Fishermen’s Wool) and 136 yards of the double fingering - so I should have enough to make a 60” wrap - Doing a happy dance. On the other hand, I found a ‘boo-boo’ this morning - can you spot it? (about 2 up and 3 over from the lower left hand corner)… it’s gonna be tricky because it’s one of the drop-stitch areas - but hoping I can stretch it across the gap, because it would take too much effort to redo. Probably should drop it now and see (like I did with my Clapotis), but I’ve got a deadline to make!
6/6/14 - Yarn dyed on an 8 yard repeat (blue/peach/cream approx 2-1/2 yards each) and knitting has begun. Striping by rows (instead of multiple rows), alas, and no time to dye something else, and so it goes. Maybe gradient mini-skeins? Using larger size needle than swatch (US 9 instead of US 6) to make a less dense fabric. Pattern much more automatic now that I’ve done the swatch. First couple of rows are the trickiest! I think it’s going to be beautiful anyways. Pictures soon! MakerFaire NC tomorrow! :)
Another new Leethal pattern in the works! She’s so prolific - I can’t fathom how she does it! This is a swatch to see how much worsted weight Fishermen’s Wool I’m going to need to dye. I’m thinking something lighter than the blue-green - maybe keep it close to the original cream color. Planning on some kind of a wrap - depending on how big it is. Love the dropped stitch “ladders” - makes it seem like there’s more value for the time spent. Also note - Exceptional Vintage Yarn Find!!! (it’s probably 50 YEARS OLD and like brand-new!!) <3 The Scrap Exchange!
