My friend has been wanting a doll like this, so I decided to make one for her birthday. I used worsted weight yarn, added a couple of extra rounds for the body to make her a little taller, and a couple of extra rounds for the arms.

Using Size 10 crochet thread, and some seed beads, I strung a necklace and attached it to the back of the dress to keep in place.

I’d never stitched on a mouth before, so I wasn’t sure exactly how to go about it. I tried a few different ways, but eventually settled on a simple method of just using a wine colored worsted weight yarn and stitching sideways around about 3 of my single crochets, I did this about 3 times to give a little volume to the lips so they wouldn’t be flat against the yarn.

I was pressed for time, so I didn’t think to take pictures of the hair process. But I cut strips of 2 different colored yarns and used my crochet hook to pull through and knot at the base of each set of hair strands. Once I got all of the hair in place, I used a colored pony tail holder to bring to the top of the head, and then untwisted each strand of yarn (one by one) to separate all 4 plys for a natural look to the hair.
