I’ve made quite a few of these hats, and I’ve only taken pictures of three of them. The hats always turn out impressive - especially if you pick some great colors that contrast well with each other.

I like this pattern, but for some reason, I always feel like the hat shrinks up more than I want it to. I’ve tried a bulky wool yarn, and worsted weight wool yarn doubled up. I think I need to use some super-bulky wool next time.

Pro Tip: the hat itself is pretty easy to knit. The mohawk is where you’ll spend a ton of time. Make sure when you’re cutting and organizing all your pieces that your animals can’t access all the little piles of yarn you’ve made. Take your time and tie them on securely. After felting, again take your time and really pull those felted mohawk pieces apart. The more you tease it, the more impressive your mohawk will be.
