Well… I’m not sure if I’m doing it right or not, but I guess I like the final result!

Somehow, I just couldn’t understand the pattern - it says “do not join”, but if it’s not joined is it worked flat? If so, why doesn’t the rib look right? Then is it knitted in the round? But why doesn’t it say so, and why does says to NOT join in the round? I gave up on trying to understand the instructions, and did this instead, hoping I understood the basic idea :

• Row 1: Chain 28, then sl st into the first st (careful not to twist).
• Row 2 to 7: Crochet continuously in the round, work a HDC in the third (WS) loop of each st.
• Row 8: work a HDC in the third loop of every st across, increasing 2 sts evenly spaced, end with a sl st into the first st of the row.
• Row 9: Work a SC in the third loop of every st across, sl st into the first st of the row, bind off.
