I’m following instructions for size Large to achieve something close to a size M on modified gauge - fingering weight yarn at 6 sts per inch.
--------------------Mods--------------------
-
I started the color stripes a little lower than the pattern calls for, about 20 rows below the neckline.
-
I love the texture of this sweater but I’m not a fan of the stripe sequence so I’ll be working 5 large (gradient) stripes instead like the Seashore. I made the color stripes 30 rows long (15 CC, 15 MC) and the MC stripes in the middle 10 rows long.
-
No waist shaping - to work the texture uninterrupted from back to front, I decreased 1 st just before the mid-round marker.
-
I’m making this sweater (much) longer than the pattern called for, and using some short row shaping for a longer back - see the ‘’progress’’ section for more details.
-
I’m not following the stripe sequence for the sleeves as I want them shorter but still want to have all 5 colors of the gradient in them. I’m making every color block 20 rows long (10 CC, 10 MC) with 6MC rows I between each.

Finished stripe 3.
June 24 2016
Finished stripe 4.
June 25 2016
Finished stripe 5.
June 27 2016
Finished the short row shaping around the back. I worked 18 rows in the MC after the last stripe, then on the next row I started working the short row shaping around the back. I worked 20 short rows, always turning 2 sts before the marker or the previous short row.

The body is finished, but I think I won’t have enough of the MC yarn for the sleeves. Let’s check what’s on destash on Ravelry. As for the gradient, I still have 13g of the lighter color and 17g of each of the other ones.

Got the yarn I needed, thank you becktrek!! 44g
October 8th 2017
Finished the cuff of the first sleeve, using the 2nd color of the gradient to bind off. I wanted to start the 2nd sleeve, but somehow I remember I picked up a different number of stitches in the underarm but I can’t remember how many !!!!!! >.<
October 24th 2017
I ended up counting the stitches on my first sleeve - 1 picked up 10, for a total of 70 sts around. Since I had trouble working the first sleeve on magic loop, I’ll just work the 2nd one directly on DPNs.
December 2nd, 2017
Finished thr second sleeve.
December 9th, 2017
Finished weaving in the ends and washed.
7.7g left of cream
53.6 g left of gradient (11.7g of color 1, 9.9g of color 2, 10.7g of color 3, 10.4g of color 4 & 10.5g of color 5)
2018/11/30
Added an icord neck band in color 1 of the gradient. After loosing weight, the neck opening was too big and droopy so I needed some structure around the neck.
