Body:
Sleeves:
-
I picked up 60 sts around the arm holes instead of the 64 sts the pattern called for size S. On the first row, I knit all stitches through the back loop.
-
I made the sleeves shorter, stopping the decreases at 46 sts, then worked 16 rows of 1x1 ribbing.
--------------------Yarn--------------------
It’s my first time working with this yarn, and I love it so far. It’s soft and nice to work with, and I feel like this yarn will give the sweater a lot of drape, so I really can’t wait to see how it’ll turn out! One downside though, there is a lot of hay (?) strands mixted throughout, so I keep pulling them out as I go.
------------------Progress------------------
November 5th
I just cast on today., Starting with the back I worked 24 rows of 1x1 rib over 88 sts - 2112 sts
November 6th
I finished the back working 24 rows of pattern (2112 sts), then started working the front. Worked 20 full rows of ribbing (1760 sts) plus short row shaping (184 sts).
TOTAL: 6168 sts
November 7th
Today was a great day!
I finished the front (24 X 88 = 2112 sts), joined in the round then worked 24 rows around the body (24 X 176 = 4224 sts)
TOTAL: 12 504 sts
November 8th
Another good day, I worked 24 rows of pattern around the body (24 x 176 = 4224 sts)
TOTAL: 16728 sts
November 9th
Worked another 24 rows today (4224 sts), I’m almost at the halfway mark - woohoo!!!
TOTAL: 20 952 sts
November 10th
Worked only 12 rows today (2112 sts) - better than nothing.
TOTAL: 23 064 sts
November 11th
Veteran’s day :)
Worked another 24 rows (4224 sts), allowing me to pass the halfway mark of this challenge.
TOTAL: 27 288 sts
November 12th
Today I put the body on hold and started the sleeves. See “Mods” for details.
(60x8) + (58x8) + (56x8) + (54x8) + (52x8)= 2240 sts
TOTAL: 29 528 sts
November 14th
Finished one sleeve, I decided to make it shorter than the pattern called for. See “Mods” for details. (50X8) + (48x8) + (46x8) + (46x16) = 1888 sts
Total for one sleeve: 4128sts
Counting another 4128 sts for the other sleeve, this puts me at a total of 35 544, which means that the body still has to be 14 456 sts longer than it is to reach the 50k mark. The bottom edge + short row shaping is about 5478, so I’m still 8978 sts short; that’s 52 rows (13 pattern repeats) before starting the short row shaping. Better get back to it ASAP.
ETA: Worked 16 rows around the body (2816 sts)
TOTAL: 34 232 sts
November 15th
Wow, today was a GREAT knitting (but otherwise lazy) day. I worked 36 rows (6336 sts), taking the body exactly where it needs to be to start the short row shaping. I’m so excited!!
TOTAL: 40 568 sts
November 19th
I have been sick with a sinus infection the last few days, so I’ve been feeling a little out of it. I finished the short row shaping & the bottom edge (5478 sts) then tried on the sweater.
That’s when I realized I was so focused on reaching the 50k mark that I made the body “a little” too long… Long enough in fact that it’s reaching my knee. Oh well, guess it’ll just be a dress then.
TOTAL: 46 046 sts
November 23rd
Started the 2nd sleeve. (60x8) + (58x8) + (56x8) = 1392 sts
TOTAL: 47 438 sts
November 24th
Lunch break (54x8) + (52x4) = 640 sts
Evening (52 x4)+(50x8)+(48x8)+(46x8)+(46x16) = 2096 sts.
Sleeve done, sweater (dress?) done! Just have to weave in the ends and block now.
TOTAL: 50 174 sts
November 25th
Ends all woven in, dress on the blocking mat. It looks awesome, I’m so exicted!
