1/7/09: yay! I finished. I did a little more shaping on the hood and added a few more short rows at the top to make it even more rounded since I had extra yarn left. It’s now blocking.
1/5/09: I’m about 1/2 way done with the hood. I already progress photos, but still have yet to upload them and edit some of the lighting, since I do most of my knitting at night. I decided to do ruffles at the pockets, but am undecided right now about doing ruffles for the hood. I worked each pocket separately. Then, after picking up the sts for the main body, I knitted both halves at the same time. It helps to pin the pocket to the scarf body as you are knitting b/c it helps with the tangle factor. Once I had enough to scarf body to sew the pocket, I basted the edges and used the pockets to hold my yarn balls.
12/25/08: I needed to make a sample for our store sample and to wear when I’m out and about. I had my knit friends help me pick out a color, since I was grappling with teal, orange or dark wine. I also wanted to make it out of Schulana Fashion Silk, which we just ordered, but the color I want didn’t some in yet. Perhaps, I will treat myself some more later and do another one out of the silk.
I’m trying to be very good at documenting my progress so that I can use the photos for the PF tutorial/FAQ page.
I chose this yarn more for the color than anything else. I know that the bamboo will have more drape than body, but I really really love this color and am willing to compromise a bit. Otherwise, I wouldn’t choose a yarn with a high bamboo content like this one for this project.
